I Want To Tell Stories Like Pixar Does - Part 2

The Pixar story telling structure follows the framework:
Once upon a time...
Every day ...
One day...
Because of that...
Because of that...
Until finally...
And ever since then...

Below is my attempt at deconstructing the new Pixar movie Turning Red. It was an interesting process to do. I actually started at the end did the bottom two and then came back up to the top to the beginning of the story. I know I have way too many 'Because of this...' statements. This is where I would want to refine my practice. In my mind I wanted to go back and look at the examples of Up and Toy Story to get a sense of how many they used.

I would definitely use this framework with kids. I could even see it being a fun way to do a group story.

Definitely more to be explored here.

Turning Red
Once upon a time there was a girl called Mei Mei, who lived with her mother and father at their temple.  Her job was to honor her parents. She also secretly loves the boy band 4-Town.

Every day, she went to school, achieved everything to a high standard to please her mother and in the afternoons she would come home and help her mother at their family temple that honored red pandas.

One day she wakes up as a red panda and turns into one whenever she becomes to excited. If she gets too emotional the red panda appears.

Because of that, her mother thinks she has her period for the first time and embarrasses her at school.

Because of that, her red panda appears at school and she runs home to hide.

Because of that, her friends come to check on her and discover her secret.

Because of that, they decide to use Mei Mei's read panda to raise the money to go see the band 4-Town.

Because of that, she starts to lie to her mother and her grades begin to slip.

Because of that, her mother and grandmother are worried.

Because of that, her grandmother, aunts and cousins visit the temple in the night of a party she was going to make the last dollars for the concert tickets.

Because of that, she almost misses the party but instead turns up in a costume.

Because of that, there is a fight and the red panda comes out and causes a lot of damage.

Because of that, the mother blames Mei Mei's friends for exploiting her. Mei Mei throws them under the bus.

Because of that, they go to the concert without her.

Because of that, she sneaks to out see the boy band.

Because of that, her mother gets so angry that her huge red panda breaks free of the amulet.

Because of that, her grandmother, aunts and cousins turn into red pandas to help save the mother

Until finally she embraces the red panda that is inside her.

And ever since then the temple is busier than with Mei Mei becoming the red panda, for each tour.
